U.S. Vice President JD Vance to Visit India with Second Lady Usha Vance This Month

U.S. Vice President JD Vance is set to visit India later this month with Second Lady Usha Vance, a report by Politico says, referencing three people familiar with the plan.

The visit is particularly meaningful since it will be Usha Vance’s first trip to its country of origin as Second Lady. Her parents Krish and Lakshmi Chilukuri had immigrated to the United States from India in the late 1970s.

This is Vice President Vance’s second foreign trip for business since taking office, as a follow-up to his diplomatic debut visit to France and Germany last month. The visit will help enhance the US-India relationship particularly in fields of technological partnership and investments.

In recent times PM Narendra Modi and JD Vance held talks centered around US nuclear technology investments by Indians coming to forefront putting spot light on the strengthening bond between two nations.

Usha Vance, a seasoned litigator, comes to us with a first-rate legal pedigree. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University, her master’s degree from the University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Scholar, and clerked for Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The scheduled visit is expected to include cultural exchanges and high level meetings to further strengthen the relations between Washington and New Delhi.

As the Vance family embarks on this historic trip, there will be a focus on the emerging relationships between the world’s two most democratic countries.
