A U.S. military airstrike conducted in northwest Syria eliminated senior Hurras al-Din militant Muhammad Salah al-Za’bir according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

A United States military aerial strike conducted on Thursday targeted terrorist networks in the region through a precise operation. CENTCOM authorities reported that al-Za’bir’s elimination successively weakened Hurras al-Din because this organization functions as an Al-Qaeda guerrilla force with worldwide terrorist operations.

CENTCOM affirmed that this mission shows the solid dedication of our forces to hit terrorist organizations that threaten U.S. interests and allied nations. CENTCOM maintains its position to employ necessary actions which target militant forces in Syria and resources beyond Syria.

Hurras al-Din which originated from Al-Qaeda operates within Syria’s northwest region through carrying out attacks and offering aid to radical organizations. The United States has directed numerous aerial attacks at the group in the past few years while trying to minimize its power in the area.

CENTCOM provided no additional information about the targeted assault but initial report indicates zero civilian deaths during the operation. The recent strike shines light on current American counterterrorist actions that maintain focus on militants’ sanctuary areas across the region.

The recent development will reshape Hurras al-Din leadership structure but analysts have yet to predict its effect on operational activities.
