Thomas Pratt, a research seismologicist for the USGS said that seismic energy goes farther in the east because the composition is so good that even if the small quake occurs, it is felt farther away.
Also, of late seismic events emphasize the importance of seismic preparedness. Authorities advise that residents get prepared for an emergency supply and to keep up-to-date with safety protocols to avoid risks. Both areas remain on high alert levels as scientists keep close tabs on seismic activity.
