President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has a “courageous leader” on his hands after extensive telents by Ukraine envoy to Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg says and tempers continuing rifts between Kyiv and Washington.
In a social media post, Kellogg said they had a “deep and long, intense engagement” with Ukraine’s leadership focusing on its layers. “Talked with a held-up but courageous warlord of a country in the cross hairs and his brilliant National Security team, for significant amount of time,” he added.
Just days after the White House being scathing on Zelensky’s leadership, it looks as though there may be a political chasm between the Biden administration and Trump’s circle on Ukraine policy.
A media had been eagerly awaiting news coverage of the Kellogg-Zelensky face-to-face, patiently waiting for what should have been an official news conference with journalists and cameras lined up. Unfortunately, it was canceled at the last minute leaving many with theories of what the undisclosed reasoning could be.
While the White House has come out against Kellogg recently, his support for Trump helps to highlight that some existing Trump allies are overlapping with people in Kyiv. This could indicate that Trump’s orbit is at least still in contact with leadership in Ukraine, if and when he moves it again, comments hearken back to the foreign policy comparisons argued by some.
More worries around the trans-national geopolitical war issues are emerging with new rumors as the latest press conference has been axed but Kellogg’s remarks clarify that Trump’s camp is in love with Ukraine, adding another layer of political intrigue to this stalemate.
