President Donald Trump brought political tensions to an intense climax by declaring on February 7, 2025 that he would remove Joe Biden from classified database access and stop his daily intel briefing. Trump used Biden’s own decision to deny him national security information in 2021 as justification for this action.
Trump published his announcement through his social media platform when he arrived at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach. Trump declared that Biden no longer needs access to confidential state secrets in his recent public statement. Trump established this practice during 2021 by ending intelligence briefings to his predecessor. The recent security clearance removal follows Trump’s ongoing campaign which specializes in punishing his political enemies. Prior to his announcement Trump stripped security clearance from more than 50 former intelligence professionals who evaluated the legitimacy of the Hunter Biden laptop controversy during the 2020 election campaign. The former officials Dr. Anthony Fauci and Mike Pompeo received their protective details eliminated by him. 
Before making any official statement Biden explained in 2021 that the Trump briefings ended because Trump showed erratic behavior when he participated in the January 6 Capitol attack. Biden expressed doubts about sharing sensitive information to Trump during his 2021 CBS interview because he feared Trump would disclose such information.
The presidential memorandum was issued as classified documents continue to be the subject of legal proceedings. Execution of felony charges against Donald Trump followed when FBI agents discovered classified documents during their 2022 search of his Florida residence but those charges were ultimately dropped. During the 2023 special counsel investigation Trump mentioned findings which labeled Biden’s mental powers as “poor” and “faulty” regarding his management of classified documents.
