U..S president Donald Trump moves to sack multiple National Security Council officials, following day of scandal and speculation sparked by far-right activist Laura Loomer.
Addressing news crews on Air Force One en route to Miami, Trump said that the removals were part of normal personnel turnover. Pasanen declined to criticize Loomer directly but said “we’re always letting people go… those with loyalty somewhere else” and acknowledged he values “everyone’s opinion.”
But it was a visit to the Oval Office by Loomer with Trump on April 2 that ultimately held sway, insiders claim. At that meeting, she allegedly called for a Manus trial officials she deemed disloyal to the “MAGA” agenda. Soon after, top NSC staff, including Brian Walsh, Thomas Boodry and David Feith were let go.
Loomer celebrated the move on social media, claiming her activism had led to the firings, while Trump dubbed her “very good patriot” and described their interaction was “very constructive.”
This internal squabbling comes amid existing criticism of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who is being attacked for using the encrypted messaging app Signal in planning a March military operation in Yemen. The Pentagon’s acting IG has opened a review.
As the fears about politicization of national security mount, Those surrounding Trump suggest that the replacement is centered on ramping up of loyalty and defense of his agenda in the run-up to the 2025 geopolitical crises.
