The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. local time. One of the buses was on its way to Oruro, the city known for its fabulously colorful and riotous carnival festivities that were happening that week. Chilling reports have emerged that one of the drivers, who was lucky to survive the crash, was visualized gorging on alcohol before the accident.

Bolivia is known for its treacherous roads, steep mountainous routes and lack of road controls causing an occasionally timely accidental death. Official statistics says, Road accidents are claiming approximately 1,400 lives in a year.
An investigation is underway in to the crash which is currently concentrating on driver error and road conditions. Families of the dead are seeking justice as Bolivia is hit by yet another tragic transportation tragedy.
Government officials have called for tough enforcement of road safety laws to stop more disasters. The victims are meanwhile receiving treatment at nearby hospitals many of whom are in a critical condition.
