TikTok Bypasses U.S. App Store Ban, Offers Android Download on Website

The ongoing U.S. restrictions against TikTok led the platform to introduce package kits for downloading the app through its official website for all Android users.

The January 19 U.S. law required ByteDance to sell TikTok or face complete restriction but Apple and Google maintain their ban on the platform in their app stores. National security alerts from U.S. officials became the primary reason for passing the legislation.

President Donald Trump has issued an executive order to push back the implementation of this law by 75 days ever since he took office on January 20. The president disclosed plans to determine TikTok’s future acquisition path during the upcoming month. The service maintains a user base exceeding 170 million people in the United States.

The speech freedom advocates contend the ban stifles electronic free expression rights. TikTok stands firm in its defense of its operational structure by ensuring that both user data storage lies within Oracle servers and content moderation occurs in U.S. domain.

The uncertain status of TikTok in the US continues to be examined by the White House as they explore creating a sovereign wealth fund to acquire the app.

The future existence of TikTok in the U.S. continues to stay uncertain due to ongoing legal disputes and political strategic measures.
