Another row has broken out over Prince Harry after Sentebale’s chair, Sophie Chandauka, accused him of “harassment and bullying on an industrial scale” amid his resignation from the charity.
In an interview with Sky News, Chandauka, quizzed Harry, for announcing his intention to leave without either of her or the Sentebale chiefs being told. She said that his comments were an unleashing of the Sussex machine which harmed her and the organization’s 540 employees.
Prince Harry co-founded Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006, after visiting the young victims of HIV and AIDS in Lesotho with his mother in 2003. Following an irreparable rift between the trustees and the chair, both princes gave up last week as patrons.
Harry and Seeiso’s statement said Sentebale’s board of trustees had sacked Chandauka but she had crossed files with the board to keep her job. In response, Chandauka claimed institutional problems within the charity including “bad governance, abuse of authority, bullying, harassment and misogyny”.
On the other hand, former trustee Kelello Lerotholi was shocked by these allegations saying he never encountered such behaviour when he was around. It has confirmed it is looking at governance issues at charity Sentebale.
Prince Harry has no reaction to the allegations. The latest kerfuffle is just another controversy that surrounds his post-royal life, which has otherwise been characterized by various spats with UK institutions and media attention.
