Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled India’s imaginative “MAHASAGAR” vision—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions—during his visit to Mauritius committing India firmly to the Global South.
At the National Day celebrations in Champ de Mars, where he was the Chief Guest, Prime Minister Modi stressed on the priorities of the Indian Navy which includes securing India’s maritime space, encouraging trade in national currencies and augmenting capacity building. He made his comments following signing as many as eight strategic agreements with Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam for bilateral cooperation.

“Our vision for Global South will be MAHASAGAR—trade for development, capacity building for sustaining growth, and mutual security for shared future,” PM Modi said.
The indicators between India and Mauritius intend to enhance common activity in maritime security—a task of raising geopolitical respectability amid brake up rising impact of beneath the Indian Ocean.
