On a surprising Wednesday night, it was announced that actress Michelle Trachtenberg, 39 was discovered dead in her home on the Upper West Side. The official cause of death has not yet been revealed, but sources say she died last week following a liver transplant.
The bone marrow transplant specialist highlights that liver transplants have a high survival odds (more than 75% of patients alive at least five years after surgery) but complications exist.
Complex procedures and monitoring to recover, explained Dr. Danielle Brandman, liver transplant specialist. “Most patients who leave our facility have very robust signs of liver function but risk still exists.” 
You have been informed that Trachtenberg needed this transplant–leading U.S. cause aside from alcohol-related liver cirrhosis and fatty liver disease autoimmune disorders, if memory serves. Best known for her 20 years of work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, she has previously shifted the needle on her health being fine via social media.
For the time being, medical researchers say identification and prevention of liver disease are key among investigations. In Hollywood, a star is mourned who succumbs to death and fans begin asking questions.
