Strained US-Iran relations have taken a dramatic turn with former President Donald Trump unveiling having a “combo of massive profits” for Iran but the alert describing Washington will endure an unparalleled struggle turmoil in the country if Tehran fails to dump Washington’s nuclear expenditures. In response, Iran reportedly has put it missile forces on high alert, with the operable ability to attack US-wagons linked regional and worldwide as reported by the state-run Tehran Times.
Sources say that much of these missiles are stored within heavily armoured underground facilities capable of potentially withstanding such airstrikes. It comes in a public defiance by Tehran to pressure tactics by Washington.
Trump, in a recent NBC News interview, stood by his comment, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing, the likes of which they have never seen.” In addition to military threats, he suggested the revival of secondary sanctions on Iran and its customers.
Iran’s newly elected president Masoud Pezeshkian rejected direct talks with the US but left the door open for further indirect negotiations through Oman. He stressed that Iran had no faith in America’s word and called for a demonstration of sincerity before more talks.
The move comes after Trump’s 2018 exit from the 2015 nuclear deal, which had set limits on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions easing. As Iran increases its defenses and the U.S. insists on compliance, the standoff has raised fears of a potential military clash in the Middle East.
