Iran Condemns U.S. Sanctions on Shipping, Calls Move ‘Unlawful’

The Iranian government strongly criticized the United States for launching new economic restrictions which target oil shipping entities while describing these actions as absolute violations of the law.

The U.S. Treasury Department implemented new economic sanctions the day before Thursday to prevent Iranian entities from moving multiple millions of oil barrels to Chinese markets. The sanctions were implemented several days later when U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed his plans to eradicate all Iranian oil exports for enhancing nuclear programs in that region.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry through its spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei declared these sanctions as an attempt to inflict excessive pressure on Iranian citizens through blocking their right to carry out honest commerce. He emphasized that “The new U.S. administration’s choice represents an unlawful improper action” according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

The diplomat Baghaei informed Washington about future actions that would result from what he described as “unilateral and bullying actions.”

Under Trump’s new presidential term the oil sanctions against Iran constitute the first wave of enforcement which fits into global strategy to reduce Russian oil deliveries to China together with India. Experts predict that these steps will produce major effects on worldwide oil commerce and international relationships between countries.

The Islamic Republic of Iran refuses to back down under U.S. pressure because it has shown before that these methods do not stop its economic movements. Washington and Tehran face another severe diplomatic crisis through the recent implementation of new sanctions.
