India’s Russian Oil Imports Surge to €49 Billion Amid Sanctions

According to a report by Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air — CREA, India dependence on Russian crude oil has started from €49bn in the third year of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, the imports.

India was once dependent on the Middle East for its oil but a move towards Russian petroleum started in 2022, as Western sanctions forced Russia to sell oil at near-cost discount.

This brought Russia’s oil share of total crude by 40% India, from a paltry less than 1 times digest the invasion.
