French Ex-Surgeon Faces Trial for Assaulting 299 Victims, Mostly Children

A former French surgeon named Joel Le Scouarnec faces trial on February 24 for attacking 297 patients through sexual violence during their medical procedures mostly involving children. The 74-year-old perpetrator engaged in these offenses throughout 25 years across various medical institutions in western France by attacking unconscious patients.

Public sessions at the trial in Vannes, Brittany will continue while testimonials from children victims at the time remain private throughout seven days.

While serving a 15-year term for molesting four children among them his nieces Le Scouarnec recently gained additional 111 rape and 189 sexual abuse charges. The victims were between one year old and 70 years old and the typical age of the victims was 11.
