In an unprecedented move, Billionaire Elon Musk met Businessman Pete Hegseth, The US Defence Secretary at The Pentagon for an 80 minute closed door meeting on Friday. This is Musk’s first public meeting at the Department of Defense, in which he urged for legal action against publishers spreading “malicious false information” about the meeting.
The session, which covered innovation and cost-cutting, occurs as reports claim Musk was going to be revealed U.S. war plans against China, plans both Musk and Facebook former boss Donald Trump have denied. Musk dismissed the reports as “pure propaganda,” he said on X, “I look forward to the prosecutions of those at DoD who are leaking malicious false info to NYT. They will be found.”
The President Trump echoed of Musk’s position, saying that China matters were not in the agenda. “At the time, Elon was on that side addressing costs – DOGE – a thing called DOGE – DOGE, referred to Department of Government Efficiency which Elon is head of,” Trump joked, in what may be the first time a sitting President has made a comment about a cryptocurrency.
Musk’s growing control over federal spending choices has raised concerns about conflicts of interest, especially considering the immense Pentagon deals of SpaceX and Starlink. The White House said Musk would keep himself out of discussions about his own business interests if conflicts of interest were to develop.
As walked out of Pentagon, Musk have described meeting as “productive” and stated to support more innovation. Simultaneously, intelligence personnel keep monitoring a probe into internal spyouts, hinting at a wider police action against unapproved disclosures.
