As a significant surge in insurgent violence, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken the Jaffar Express in Balochistan Bolan district reportedly, holding over 400 Pakistani security personnel. The assault, which occurred on Tuesday, has raised a major security crisis in the area.
The BLA claimed in a statement that its fighters had derailed and captured the train in Mashkaf, Dhadar and six military personnel had been killed in resulting exchange. The group claimed that all the hostages are serving military personnel, police and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) personnel and Anti Terrorist Force (ATF) personnel of active-duty who were on their leave from Punjab.

The BLA said that any military actions will end in the execution of the hostages. The group also stated that women, children and Baloch passangers had been released leaving Pakistani security personnel only with them.
The operation, term it as one of the biggest recent years is being conducted by BLA’s Fidayeen unit, Majeed Brigade along with operational backup of later Fateh Squad, STOS, Intll wing is lead by Zirab.
Pakistan’s military and law enforcement agencies are said to be thinking on their feet, but no official statement has been made. The hijacking has raised concerns of further tensions in Balochistan, a long-troubled province posing a southern front to its brethren in northern Pakistan, where Taliban insurgents have brought domestic security to a standstill.
The situation remains highly volatile. More updates to follow.
