Measles Outbreak in Texas Surges to 90 Cases, Sparks Urgent Vaccination Calls

Northwest Texas measles outbreak has increased to 90 confirmed cases, with 32 new cases reported since Tuesday as per the Texas Department of State Health Services. Health officials are forecasting quick spread especially in the unvaccinated.

The outbreak, that began in January started initially targeting Gaines and Terry Counties are were hit the hardest as they have among the highest vaccine exemptions in the state. Of the 90 cases, 51 are children between 5-17, 26 under four. Sixteen patients are int intensive care now.

Many medical professionals say that the primary majority of infections are seen in unimmunized people or those who are unknown immune. Only 5 among people who have been vaccinated.
