Delta Offers $30K to Passengers After Fiery Crash-Landing in Toronto

Delta Air Lines is offering compensatory $30,000 to each passenger for the terrifying crash-landing at Toronto Pearson international airport.

Delta Flight 4819 from Minneapolis, caught fire and spun onto its back when it touched down at 2:15 p.m. Monday The CRJ-900 airplane had 76 passengers and four crew members dangling by their seatbelts when the plane came to rest.

Miraculously, no one was killed in the crash but 21 others had injuries. Airport officials said that none of the injuries were life-threatening, and as of Wednesday morning only one passenger was still in the hospital.

A Delta statement said that compensation comes “unconditionally” and is outside the scope of passengers legal rights. Eligibility of all eligible passengers will bring to nearly $2.3 million in payments if they opt-in.
