An extremist Islamic terror attack through car ramming in Munich resulted in injury to 36 people when it took place on Thursday. The assailant who is a 24-year-old Afghan immigrant used his white Mini to deliberately attack a trade union demonstration crowd of 1,500 people in central Munich. The assault took place only before a security summit where world leaders participated.
The suspect revealed during interrogation according to Senior Public Prosecutor Gabriele Tilmann that he purposely selected the crowd with religious motives. The prosecutor stated that this incident might be an Islamic extremist attack yet there is no proof connecting him to Islamist groups or fellow militants. The individual who migrated to Germany as an unaccompanied minor back in 2016 has no criminal record yet authorities noted his presence in earlier investigations.
A total of eight persons including one youngster received extensive injuries after the attacker used a vehicle to strike them throughout the targeted crowd which spanned from children to adults who were between 2 and 60 years old. Police guards patrolling the march attempted to shoot the vehicle but their shots missed both the driver and an unidentified traveler. The tragic incident has intensified the demand for immigration reform as Germany prepares for its upcoming federal polls.
The security conference successfully carried out its planned discussion about Ukraine war while Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio participated. Authorities carry out ongoing assessments of the criminal’s digital presence across social media platforms.
